The Team


Joanna Watchman is the Founder of Content Communications Associates. With a career spanning 17 years, she’s spent all of her working life working in B2B marketing and technology publishing. Her expertise lies in the converging worlds of industry, environment and energy and she has a particular interest in marketing new, energy-efficient technologies.

Joanna has created, managed and implemented communications strategies for some of the biggest engineering and technology companies in the world including Siemens PLC, Spectris PLC, Watson-Marlow Bredel Pumps Group <part of Spirax Sarco PLC>, GE Lighting and OSRAM UK.  She has also worked with some of the UK's most exciting AIM-listed businesses and SMEs.

Joanna is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Commerce and Manufactures, a member of STEMPRA, and she has sat on numerous advisory boards and committees for public bodies, including the BBC and the Environmental Industries Commission.  Joanna currently serves on the marketing sub-committee of Low Carbon South West. She holds an Honours degree from the University of Kent.

Nicola Martin
is Content Communications’ leading environmental writer. As well as writing and researching issue-based articles on the energy and green tech arena for a range of publications, she compiles case studies, brochure copy, market intelligence reports, sales-presentations and briefing documents. Nicola also manages and edits content for a number of client websites.

Nicola holds an Honours degree from University of East Anglia. She also studied at the University of California, Berkeley in the United States. Articles authored by Nicola have recently appeared in: Sustain, Energy & Environmental Management (Defra magazine), Energy in Buildings and Industry and Public Sector & Local Government Building.

Steed Webzell is not only our leading engineering/technology writer, he is also one of the best-known editors in the industrial media arena. Specialising in technical journalism, Steed works with us to produce technical articles, case studies, product press releases, event reports, brochure and web copy for a range of technology clients. His work has appeared in just about every engineering magazine you can think of.

Matthew Hyde is a specialist in delivering content for all things online. He has experience in social media, orchestrating search engine optimisation and search engine marketing campaigns, blogging and editing and developing websites. Matthew has a degree in journalism, and before choosing to focus specifically on online endeavours, he worked on numerous local newspapers and has written for several national sports titles.

Felicity Stockton is our PR and marketing executive. She has a first-class honours degree and has recently completed her Master’s degree in Environmental Health. Felicity is passionate about how consumers can change their behaviours to lower their carbon footprint by making minor life style changes. Her other interests include the effects that the built environmental has on human health, low carbon living, retrofit technology and sustainability.

David Davies A specialist in AV and technology journalism, David is one of Content Communications’ associate writers. David writes technical articles and case study copy in the fields of building control, lighting, and smart home/business technology. He has been a prolific contributor to leading audio industry trade magazine Pro Sound News Europe for nearly ten years, and has also written for Installation Europe, IE-Residential, The ISE Daily, The IBC Daily, iQ, Record Collector, Q and Music Week, among many other titles.

Emmelie Brownlee is one of our associate writers. She holds a degree from Cardiff University in English Literature and Cultural Criticism. These studies inspired her to examine how our culture shapes our attitudes to the natural environment. Her background is in environmental research and communication - most recently, she ran a project to document Bristol’s history of environmental action. She is currently working on several projects, including helping an independent environmental research organisation with its communication strategy.
