Energy marketing firm delighted by Bristol’s ‘Green Capital’ status

Bristol has been named EU Green Capital for 2015 – an award that recognises cities that consistently achieve high environmental standards and are committed to further improvement.

Bristol, the first UK city to win the award, which is co-ordinated by the EU Commission, received specific acknowledgment for its transport and energy investment plans. The city has committed a budget of EUR 500 million for transport improvements by 2015 and up to EUR 300 million for energy efficiency and renewable energy by 2020.

Nicola Martin, Senior Environmental Writer at the energy marketing firm, Content Coms, says: “We are thrilled that Bristol’s consistent hard work has been recognised. The city has a dedicated low-carbon sector, of which we are very proud to be a part.”

She adds: “We are excited about the opportunities for our city and we look forward to continuing to contribute in the lead up to 2015.”
