Feed-in Tariff: Government ordered to pay £132m in damages to solar firms

The Government has been ordered to pay £132 million in damages to solar and construction companies for unlawful policy changes made to subsidies for solar electricity, reports Greenwise Business.

The ground-breaking ruling sees 14 organisations win victory in the High Court over their claim against the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) for damages to jobs and investments sustained by the companies as a result of illegal cuts to the Feed-in Tariff (FiT).

Following his ruling, the Hon. Mr Justice Coulson, the High Court Judge on the case, said the claimants had “demonstrated an entitlement to damages”.
