More money to Green Deal Communities scheme

In a move to increase take-up the Green Deal, Government has quadrupled the Green Deal Communities funding for Local Authorities, writes Energy Zine.

A total of 24 Local Authorities will tap into the £88 million pot to roll-out the Green Deal on a street-by-street basis, with the aim of improving the energy efficiency in around 32,0000 homes.

“Properties across the country are leaking hundreds of pounds every year through faulty boilers, draughty windows and insufficient insulation,” said Minister for Energy, Greg Barker.

“By installing energy saving improvements we can help thousands of consumers save energy and lower their bills.

“This is why we’ve quadrupled the Green Deal Communities funding, so that Local Authorities can help many more people benefit from these improvements.”
