Public buildings (21 per cent) and manufacturing sites (17 per cent) have overtaken offices (15 per cent) this quarter as the principle property types to benefit from energy efficiency upgrades, according to the latest energy trends report from analysts EEVS.

This is the first time that office property has not been in the top spot since the survey began in 2012.

A summary of the report shows that:

  • Confidence in government’s energy efficiency policies down 180 points to an all-time low
  • A jump in projects commissioned, with public buildings topping list of upgrades for the first time since reporting began
  • Over a third (36 per cent) of respondents are not confident in government’s management of wider economy — but 41 per cent think it is effective
  • Energy efficiency supplier confidence is falling but respondents expect significant market improvement in Q3
