UK energy production ‘largest growth since 2002′
Source: Energy Live News
UK energy production grew by 1.5% in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same time last year.
That’s according to a new government report.
Total production stood at 31.1 million tonnes of oil equivalent in the first four months this year.
That’s the highest since 2002 “though production is still generally falling as growth in renewables is more than offset by declines in fossil fuel production”, the report claims.
It adds the growth was the result of increases in bioenergy, nuclear and coal production as well as output from wind and hydro.
