£29 billion invested in renewable energy over last three years

More than £29 billion has been invested in renewable energy in the UK since January 2010, figures from the government have revealed, writes Utility Week.

Research by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (Decc) shows more than £29 billion of private investment has been announced in the renewables sector, with the potential to support up to 30,000 jobs.

Energy secretary Ed Davey said this has been because the UK offers a “uniquely attractive, stable, transparent and supportive environment for investment in low carbon generation”.
