Environment Agency appoints new CEO

Sir James Bevan has been announced as the new CEO of the Environment Agency.

He is currently the UK’s High Commissioner to India and will take up the new role on 30th November.

The Environment Agency, which was established in 1996 to protect and improve the environment, is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra).

Sir Philip Dilley, Chairman of the Environment Agency said: “Sir James will lead the organisation with passion, energy and a clear commitment to continue the great work it does to protect and improve the environment and make it a better place for people and wildlife.”
