Green-tech communications expert highlights growth of low carbon economy

Recent Government figures have revealed that low-carbon industries saw a record turnover of £122bn in 2013, with an annual growth rate of 7.6% since 2010.

There was also a 3.8% increase in jobs between 2010 and 2013, with the entire sector supporting 460,000 careers.  The solar PV industry was responsible for a substantial proportion of this, with a growth rate of more than 20%.

The Energy and Climate Change Secretary, Ed Davey, states that “the low-carbon economy that many have talked about is now within reach.” Content Communications, a Bristol-based green-tech communications consultancy agency, has seen this growth first-hand and encourages businesses to realise the opportunities that energy-efficient technologies present.

Joanna Watchman, Managing Director at the content marketing specialist, says: “As our expertise lies in the energy marketing and green-tech PR arena, we have been delighted by the sector growth over the last five years.”

She adds: “We have seen a marked increase in the understanding that energy efficient technologies are the way forward, both in terms of energy reduction and cutting costs. We expect that this growth will increase significantly as energy prices continue to rise and carbon target deadlines loom.”
