Leading lighting industry comms specialist supports International Year of Light 2015

The UN-backed International Year of Light 2015 has enjoyed a series of successful launch events and is now preparing for a global program of educational and outreach activities, scheduled throughout the remainder of the year.

Content Communications, an agency skilled in lighting industry communications, is pleased to be supporting the initiative as a sponsor alongside leading lighting manufacturers, Zhaga, the Open University, the Institute of Physics and the Society for Applied Spectroscopy.

“From fibre optics to solar energy, light has transformed the way we live, work and interact with each other,” comments Joanna Watchman, Managing Director of the Bristol-based comms consultancy. “The International Year of Light is designed to show how light and light-based technologies impact on all areas of our lives.”

The programme of light-based events, led by UNESCO, will be hosted by educational, cultural and scientific institutions from around the world. Several long-standing science festivals in the UK will also feature a focus on light-based technologies this year, including the Cambridge Science Festival.

“As a sponsor of the initiative, we’re looking forward to supporting the International Year of Light throughout 2015 and we’ll be encouraging our clients to do the same,” adds Joanna Watchman.

“We are also looking forward to sharing our own ideas in support of IYL through a series of initiatives on our own website. Keep an eye on our website for more information
