More than half of arts sector is benefiting financially from going green

More than 50 per cent of arts businesses organisations have experienced financial benefits as a result of action towards environmental sustainability, a major new survey into the attitudes towards environmental sustainability within the sector has revealed, writes Greenwise Business.

The survey by Julie’s Bicycle, a not-for-profit organisation aiming to bridge the gap between the creative industries and sustainability, found 55 per cent of the UK arts industry – including museums, music, theatre, literature and visual arts sectors – said they experienced financial benefits as a result of action, while 62 per cent said environmental sustainability will become “increasingly important to their business over the next two years”.

A further 40 per cent of respondents experienced benefits to their profile and reputation as a result of green business action.
