Plans to make it easier for relocating businesses to move solar panels with them

New plans to make it easier for businesses to move their solar panels when they relocate have been unveiled by the Government, reports Energy Live News.

DECC has launched a consultation seeking views on removing a barrier for building-mounted solar PV by allowing medium and large installations to be moved between buildings without losing the Feed-in Tariff payments.

Currently if a FIT-accredited installation is moved, it becomes ineligible for further support, which could have deterred both tenants and landlords from investing in renewable energy, DECC said.

The move, which will allow solar installations with capacity more than 50kW to transfer location, is intended to help boost the uptake of large rooftop solar arrays.
