Six Green Deal community projects awarded £19.5m

DECC has revealed the first six projects that have been awarded £19.5 million in total as part of the Green Deal Communities scheme, writes Energy Live News.

The Government launched the “street-by-street” initiative last July to encourage the take-up of the Green Deal scheme and local authorities were asked to identify target streets and areas in their regions that could most benefit from energy efficiency measures.

More than 7,000 households in Cambridgeshire, Ashfield, Suffolk, Peterborough, Bracknell Forest and six north London boroughs led by Haringey will benefit from retrofit programmes, DECC said.
