Women in Innovation Awards to recognise contribution from world-class innovators

Innovate UK has announced it will run a second round of Women in Innovation awards which will open for applications on 30th July 2018.

Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, is looking for women who are rising stars in business innovation and who, with the support of an award, are likely to make a significant impact towards one of the Industrial Strategy Grand Challenges: AI and Data, Healthy Ageing, Clean Growth, Future of Mobility.

The competition is open to female founders, co-founders or senior decision makers working in UK-based companies that have been operating for at least one year. The winners will each receive a £50k grant and a bespoke package of mentoring, coaching and business support.

Content Coms MD Joanna Watchman believes such awards are much needed. “All too often, women find it difficult to get the support they need to develop their ideas, expertise, skills – and confidence. For the UK to remain competitive, we must focus more effort on the development of new technologies that have the potential to be world-beating products. This kind of initiative is a perfect way to engage with and harness talent from an often-unsupported group of innovators.”
