Content Coms celebrates Earth Day with publication of E-Book
On April 22, 2016, over 1 billion people in 192 countries will take action to protect our shared environment, in a global event called Earth Day.
All across the planet, from big cities to small villages and everything in between, people are organising, demanding climate action, cleaning up their local communities, meeting with their elected officials, planting trees, and teaching their children to protect our heritage.
Content Coms actively supports the aims of Earth Day, by producing the Content Coms Earth Day book. It seeks to communicate sustainability issues and catalyse change. We believe that changing the world starts by changing your own little corner of it.
In addition to our book, we are proud of our ongoing communications work with low carbon businesses to inspire sustainability, challenge ideas, ignite passion, and motivate people to action in the fight against climate change.
What exactly is Earth Day?
“Earth Day is the largest, most recognisable face of the environmental movement,” says Kathleen Rogers, President of Earth Day Network.
“Millions of people in dozens of different countries will become lifelong environmentalists this and every Earth Day. Hundreds of thousands will be children; our planet’s future.
“They will join the people who already use Earth Day to focus on the urgent need to stabilise and reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, fight climate change, act locally, become climate voters, and protect their children’s futures.”
Crucially, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has invited every world leader to the United Nations, to officially sign the Paris Climate Agreement reached this past December. It is no coincidence the agreement is being opened for signatures on April 22, Earth Day.
“We have no higher priority this year than to make sure the United States, China, India, the EU, and all the largest CO2 emitters sign the Paris Agreement,” explains Rogers.
Why low carbon business is vital
Content Coms works to communicate the advantages of low carbon, sustainable businesses. We only work with firms which can show they have a genuine role to play in a low carbon, sustainable future for Earth.
And, we put our money where our mouth is. We are supporting Earth Day’s pledge to plant 7.8 billion trees worldwide; one for every person on Earth. We will make our own contribution to this via the Woodland trust.
“Earth Day is a crucial event in the Content Coms calendar,” said Jo Watchman, Founder and CEO of Content Coms.
“But the momentum cannot last for one day alone. That’s why we specialise in low carbon business, and we leverage our knowledge to help communicate the unavoidable truth; low carbon firms are the future.
“These are the firms that will deliver the future for Earth. And we are proud to help them in their mission.”
